"Praise In The Storm" Original 8x10 on 140 lb watercolor paper.
The sacrifice of praise is a phrase that we as believers are very familiar with.
We believe in it, know it is right, but boy is it hard to live. This painting perfectly depicts my current battle. The darkness below, the center that looks as if it's boiling....threatening something even worse, but then you look further up, and see beauty. Colors of peace and promise, with a splash of vibrant, almost electric color running through the center, reminding me that no matter what the current "storm" is, God is still in control. A wonderful musician Scott Krippane (not sure I spelled it right)has a song I love that says "sometimes HE calms the storm, and other times He calms His child". Either way,HE is what we hold on to..HE never changes.

I decided to try to add to my California fire story from yesterday...in today's piece, the smoke has subsided, and the sky is returning to normal. It took several attempts because the black kept wanting to bleed out, keeping the smoke present.

I chose the title Confluence for this piece, because when I look closely at the flow of the water...from the left it is flowing down towards the right but if you look from the right...the movement in the water suggests that it is moving towards the left and there is a point where the waters meet as opposed to one steady flow.
