One of my favorite paintings ever, was a 4 foot piece titled A Sailor's Tale, that I sold a couple of years ago. It was a heavily knife painted piece. This little painting on 8x10 140lb watercolor paper is my second attempt at a "poured" version. Not what I was going for, but still a sweet little painting in it's own right. Lots of water was used on this piece, so much that it was more like watercolors than acrylics. Signed and dated on the back, will be signed on the front before shipping. I am exceedingly thankful today, as my family was spared what could have possibly been something awful last night. As we wait for test results regarding the health of one of our sons, I have been very anxious the past few days. Last night I was plagued with worry, and feared I would not sleep, so decided to paint late into the night. Because I had poured earlier in the lower studio, and the upper studio though wonderfully light during the day, has poor lighting at night, I was painting in the kitchen. About 12:30 I suddenly smelled a strong gas odor. The boys that were still up smelled it as well. I woke up Don, who called the emergency gas number and decided to get the boys out of the house, as it was getting stronger. I woke up Marshall and the four of us trotted off to Village Inn for a 1:00 a.m. breakfast. My 20 year old refused to go, and stayed behind with Don. Long story short, the gas man said sometimes if you don't have enough windows open when you turn on the attic fan, the pilot light on the furnace goes out. The gas is supposed to automatically shut off after 15 minutes, We have lived in this house for 15 years, and have never had this happen. I am so thankful that I was up, and that we were not all sleeping.
All is well today:)

COLORADO CONTEMPORARY ABSTRACT DAILY PAINTER KIMBERLY CONRAD



As most of you know, a few months ago I created Daily Painters of Colorado, then one month later, Daily Painters Abstract Gallery. It has been an incredible experience thus far, meeting so many wonderful new artists, and learning more than I ever thought was possible about the computer (though I still have much more to learn). I am so excited to announce that The Daily Painters Abstract Gallery will have their first "Group" ad in the September issue of American Art Collector. Everyday of this endeavor is full of excitement, and something new, but I have also become quite exhausted. You have probably noticed that I don't write much on my blog anymore other than info on paintings posted. So...today I am asking the Lord to give me the wisdom and discipline to be more balanced. I have been working approximately 10-15 hours a day for months now. Very little sleep, very little exercise, and my house is a mess!!! Monday I resume my regular teaching schedule on top of everything else. I hope I don't sound like I'm complaining....I LOVE this life of ART...and want to do it forever, but everyone needs to regroup once in awhile.....I'm reminding myself that God gives me all the strength I need to do the things he wants me to be doing.....but maybe not all of the extra things I add to the pot without consulting Him.

Can you remember a time when you were all dressed up for a special event....and you'd bought the new outfit...all the accessories, hair done, nails done, etc,......you KNEW you looked amazing....this was the day you had it ALL going on...only to get home later that evening and find out you'd dripped a blob of gravy on your big diamond ring during the beginning of the evening, or the gel didn't quite get blended in the back of your hair.... or there was a hole in the armpit of that new blouse you'd danced in all night...?????? I could go on and on, but I'm sure you have stories of your own. Though we are momentarily mortified, it is great therapy to be able to laugh at ourselves.
