This past week, we had a cold front come through Denver.....the high one of the days was only 45 degrees. While I absolutely LOVE both fall and winter in Colorado....I realized that I completely missed summer this year. I worked the entire summer...never even got my "weekend" away. I love the contradictions in this piece...the vibrant pink sky...so alive and full of intensity............then the ravine...the deep black scary pit. Just like life.....you can look in one direction and see all that is bright and rich and beautiful, then look in another, and quickly sink in fear, sadness and darkness. I decided to try to add to my California fire story from yesterday...in today's piece, the smoke has subsided, and the sky is returning to normal. It took several attempts because the black kept wanting to bleed out, keeping the smoke present.

I chose the title Confluence for this piece, because when I look closely at the flow of the water...from the left it is flowing down towards the right but if you look from the right...the movement in the water suggests that it is moving towards the left and there is a point where the waters meet as opposed to one steady flow.
